“The use of travelling is to regulate imagination with reality, and instead of thinking of how things may be, see them as they are.”

I'm on my sixth passport. I've always been a bit of a disaster tourist. I've found that the best time to travel is quite often just after something major has happened in a country and the locals really need travellers back to kick start their tourism industry. There are usually no crowds and prices are lower. The Arab Spring in Egypt was an example. No queues for the Museum. Luxury accomodation for $100 a night. Nile cruises were the same. Just remember to keep your head down.

I've travelled to over sixty countries for work and pleasure and these are some of my favourites- Bali, Indonesia, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka,Nepal, Fiji,The Philippines,Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Morocco and Japan.
